Sunshine Coast Cognitive Assessment assesses both adults and children. We accept self-referred clients (no referral needed), NDIS participants, and individuals referred by their GP or specialist (e.g. neurologist, geriatrician, psychiatrist). Assessments are available in-office or mobile (at-home/community).
What is a cognitive assessment?
Cognitive tests can measure IQ (verbal comprehension, visual spatial, fluid reasoning, working memory and processing speed), attention (selective, alternating and sustained), memory (visual and verbal), executive functioning (mental flexibility, impulse control/inhibition, self-monitoring, planning/problem solving, perseveration and temporal sequencing), verbal fluency (phonemic and semantic), language (expressive and receptive), academic achievement (word reading, reading comprehension, spelling, writing, mathematics, speaking and listening), adaptive functioning (conceptual, social, practical), and mood (anxiety, stress and depression). They can also assess for psychological/behavioural symptoms that match the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, Text Revision (DSM-5-TR) criteria.

Rory has researched and worked clinically across public, private and university sectors in Australia, Canada and the Netherlands, providing him with the most up to date global knowledge and best practice methodologies. Additionally, his academic qualifications were obtained from multiple universities, giving him both broad and unique perspectives into the field of psychology and cognitive assessment.
His predominant areas of research have been in traumatic brain injury, mild cognitive impairment, dementia, and healthy brain ageing.
Rory has extensive experience in providing cognitive and psychological assessments for adults and children with an intellectual disability, ADHD, ASD, specific learning disorder, people who have experienced an acquired brain injury subsequent to trauma, stroke, or substance abuse, and those with neurodegenerative disorders such as parkinson’s, alzheimer’s, frontotemporal, lewy body and vascular dementia.
